About Us
WANTED: 100,000 pastors who are willing to fight for our children's future!
Psalm 11:3 says, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” They can do what God’s people have always done. They can come together to rebuild the foundations.
According to a recent study by the Barna Research Group, young people (ages 16-29) today are eight times less likely to say they have positive feelings toward evangelicals than the comparable age group just a decade ago. Moreover, today’s young people view Christianity in a very negative light, with more than 75% saying present-day Christianity is “judgmental,” “hypocritical,” “old-fashioned” and “too involved in politics.” Click here for the report.
I’m certain that you are reading this because you understand what effect the unrelenting attack on the Christian faith is having on our youth. Are you as a Christian pastor and leader ready to finally say “enough is enough” and get involved? If so, please register today in the box to the upper right and become a vital part of Repairing the Foundations.
I want to introduce Rev. Buddy Smith who joined the staff of American Family Association in January of 1993 as National Field Director and since 1997 has served as my assistant. Prior to joining our staff, he served for six years as member of the national board of directors for AFA and has served as an ordained minister for over thirty-five years. I have asked Buddy to work with me in directing the Repairing the Foundations effort. Please read his challenge in the "About Us" section and get involved. We need you!
There is so much work to be done in 2008. Among other critical issues, the election will be one of the most significant of our lifetimes. Unless we Christian pastors and leaders get involved, our society will become more and more hedonistic and pagan. It is time for God’s people to go to work!
Together, and with God’s help, we can repair the foundations.
Donald E. Wildmon, Chairman
American Family Association
A Note From Buddy Smith
RepairingTheFoundations.com is a project of the American Family Association (AFA). For 30 years, AFA has been involved in the battle to restore America’s biblical foundations and to protect our families from the immorality that threatens to rob our children of their future. I share Dr. Wildmon’s vision in Repairing the Foundations project to inform, motivate and equip Christian pastors and leaders to take action on issues critical to the survival of America’s families and the Godly values upon which our nation was founded.
We desperately need for God’s generals to get involved in this day when so many are sitting on the sidelines, watching idly as families are torn asunder. A national survey of high school students suggests that our nation is only one generation away from a culture that no longer acknowledges God.
The raw material of AFA's mission is information - the truth about how and why many in America are rejecting the Judeo-Christian values that first formed and then sustained our unique democracy for over 220 years. AFA's calling is to gather that information, frame it in a Biblical worldview and explain its impact to families across the nation. Then, critical to our mission is providing avenues of action aimed at re-establishing a Christian influence in our culture.
A lot is at stake in the 2008 election. Are your people registered to vote? Are you prepared to vote your values? Are you and your people informed as to who are the best candidates and why? Those of us here at Repairing the Foundations pledge to provide you and your people with the most up-to-date information and action steps as you lead forward in the battle for the soul of America.
Always remember that there is hope and that hope is found in a loving God, and it is found in God’s people! As pastors and Christian leaders, we all must act, and act now. Join with us today in our efforts to see America’s Biblical foundations restored.
Encouraging citizen activism remains at the heart of our mission. In a speech given in 1982, AFA founder Donald E. Wildmon expressed the perspective that continues to drive our mission:
The greatest resource America has is her people. The most precious gift in all the world is human life. The greatest good is to serve your fellow man. The greatest tragedy is the refusal of American people to get involved on behalf of those who will come after us. A nation which turns its back on God and His moral standards will reap what it sows. That was truth 2,000 years ago. It is truth today. It will be be truth 2,000 years from now, even if we reject it.
In short, now is the time to stand together as God’s people who are stirred to action.
